It’s our 17th Fall foliage season here at Rabbit Hill Inn. Without a doubt, the Northeast Kingdom and White Mountains is are fantastic locations to bask in the brilliant fall colors. Endless miles of country roads, rolling pastoral hills, high mountain peaks, and grand lakes are wrapped in color. No typical visual distractions here, such as outlet malls, factory buildings, or even billboards (they are not allowed here). But you will find covered bridges, a general store, and neat ol’ barns along the way.
But for us, there is MUCH more to admire… folks from literally all over the world flock to Rabbit Hill Inn to rest themselves and leisurely explore the magic of this season. Our international guests are here from France, New Zealand, Israel, England, Brazil, Australia, British Virgin Islands, Netherlands, and Canada – to name just a few. And EVERY state of the U.S. is well represented, including Alaska & Hawaii.
With all this national & international activity, Rabbit Hill Inn proves to be a wonderful microcosm of society. The warm & friendly interaction is amazing. The conversations are meaningful (not trivial chat about the weather). The laughter is heartfelt. The world comes together so nicely here.
And it also proves that it really is a small world. Yesterday, two separate couples arrived, both from Kansas. They met each other over afternoon tea and discovered that that they live nearby and have common friends back home. Today, folks arrived from Washington State. Later, another couple checked in, also from Washington. Of course they knew each other. Walt Disney was right, it really is a small world after all.
